Why an Independent iCal Service is a Great Idea
Many Online Travel Agencies (OTA), like Airbnb, Booking.com and Nomad Stays offer free iCal services to both feed out their availability to other iCal compatible systems, as well as read in other systems booking dates.
Relying on an OTA for a sideline service like iCal isn't such a great idea though. If a problem occurs with your business arrangement with the agency that also provides your iCal services to others, you can find all your other agents lose access to your availability and won't be able to take bookings for you. The result is that you lose all sales agents in one go.
Using a simple iCal supplier service however as your master source of availability means that each OTA can pull your availability from an independent master source. If one agency stops selling, the others aren't affected.
