How is Your Wi-Fi Speed Determined?

We measure the Wi-Fi speed that guests actually get at your Stay with our own speed test, built into your Stay Dashboard. It runs in your browser against Cloudflare’s global network, which automatically uses the best-connected Cloudflare server for your connection, and measures download speed, upload speed, ping and jitter.

While your theoretical or contracted speed may be listed as a fast speed the real-life speed may be different due to the numbers of people using it at the same time as well as the number of other clients your internet telco has on its lines (aka backhaul). Too many people for not enough bandwidth can cause congestion at times of the day and slow down the effective speed for users.

You can check the internet speed of your Stay by

  1. Being on your Stay’s Wi-Fi
  2. Logging into your Stay Dashboard at www.nomadstays.com
  3. Opening the Wi-Fi page for your Stay (https://www.nomadstays.com/stayadmin/test-wifi-stays)
  4. Clicking Start Wi-Fi test and keeping the page open for the 20–30 seconds the test takes
  5. The result is automatically saved to your Stay records

NB: Our Members can also test your Wi-Fi with the same tool while they are staying with you. Their results appear in your Stay’s test history, but only tests by you and the Nomad Stays team count towards the speed shown on your Stay page.
